Businessman Shaun Roos is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court for a bail application after allegedly attempting to bribe a senior City of Cape Town official.Roos was arrested earlier this month on charges related to tender fraud. The City of Cape Town has since terminated all contracts linked to his business. He is accused of offering City Manager Lungelo Mbandazayo more than R1 million in a bribery attempt. The alleged incident was uncovered during an undercover operation after Mbandazayo rejected a R1.4 million bribe and reported the matter to police. In a statement, the City said the terminated contracts are mainly construction-related, including road maintenance, resurfacing and stormwater infrastructure projects. The State is opposing bail, citing concerns that Roos has access to 35 bank accounts.
