Emmanuel Okwi Returns To Rwanda’s Kiyovu

Ugandan striker Emmanuel Arnold Okwi has joined Rwanda Premier League side Kiyovu SC on a one-year contract.

This will be Okwi’s second stint at the Kigali-based team, having featured for the club the 2021/22 season.

During that season, the veteran striker was one of the key players as the Kiyovu finished second on the league table, just one point behind eventual champions APR.

The Cranes’ all-time top-scorer then left to Iraq, where he joined Al Zawra, before leaving shortly after, to join Erbil SC in the same country.

Okwi, has had such a remarkable working relationship with teams in Africa, that he has a history of always leaving and returning at will. He had three stints at Uganda’s SC Villa, and three stints at Tanzania’s Simba.

He has also played for Young Africans in Tanzania, Etoile Du Sahel in Tunisia, SonderjyskE in Denmark, plus Egyptian sides Egyptian and Al Ittihad Alexanderia.
