Express FC and Maroons played out a lackluster 0-0 draw in their Uganda Premier League match on Saturday at Nakivubo.

Both sides lacked the cutting edge, with chances few and far between.

Express, looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Vipers, struggled to break down a Maroons defense.

The Red Eagles came closest when Mustafa Kizza’s freekick in the 73rd minute forced a brilliant save from Maroons goalkeeper Simon Tamale.

Earlier in the first half, Alpha Ssali wasted Express’ best opportunity, failing to beat Tamale in a one-on-one situation after a neat pass inside the box.

Other chances went begging, with Derrick Ngoobi unable to connect with a diving header and Charles Ssembalirwa missing a golden chance from a Kizza cross.

Maroons, while enjoying brief spells of possession, lacked creativity in the final third. Their best chance came late in the game when substitute Bashir Mutanda fired over the bar.

Express now sit eighth in the standings with four points after three games, having secured their only win on opening day against Mbale Heroes.

Maroons remain 13th with two points and will be hoping to improve their form in upcoming fixtures.

Express will next host NEC on Thursday, while Maroons will take on Lugazi at home in Luzira on Sunday.
