| NAKAWA | KYAGGWE TV | The father of the 16-year-old blind Senior Four student who was allegedly defiled by Kyambogo University lecturer, Dr. Eron Lawrence has reported anonymous life threatening phone calls and messages.
Morgan Amin Muhamood says that from the time Dr. Eron was arrested, anonymous people have routinely harassed him with life threatening phone calls and short messages asking him to withdraw from the case.
Though Amin is yet to open up a case at Police he said that he had already briefed the police detectives and that it was his next destination after court.

He therefore asked the government to grant him and his daughter security because the people threatening him can easily harm them.
Without revealing the details in the messages sent to him, Amin said he was ready to show them to security at the right time who will help in tracing the people behind them.
“I am not ready to give up on this case. Personally I have no business with Dr. Eron but I am simply pursuing justice for my daughter. Let him sit back and let justice prevail. Even when I am killed, there are a number of human rights organisations that have picked interest in the case, they will still pursue it to the end,” he said.

Amin first told Kyaggwe TV that after Dr. Eron’s arrest, his family members first tried to reach out to one of his relatives seeking for dialogue so that they could have the matter resolved out of court.
However, he said that they just ignored them adding that they were not ready to have the process of justice influenced and blocked just because the suspect has money.
“We could not lend them our ears. We asked them to let the law follow its course. I want justice for my daughter, not riches,” he said.

Amin made the revelation on Wednesday after the adjournment of Dr. Eron’s case following the absence of the trial magistrate, Christine Nantege, the Nakawa Chief Magistrate.
The suspect therefore appeared before the Grade One Magistrate, Jonathan Tiyo who remanded him until August 14, 2024.
Dr. Eron (56), who also doubled as the head of the Special Needs and Rehabilitation Faculty at Kyambogo University, is facing charges of aggravated defilement. It is alleged that he defiled a 16-year-old blind student whom he also infected with HIV/Aids.

Court put it that on October 12, 2023, between Kyambogo University and Namugongo-Nsawo Cell in Kira Municipality, Dr. Eron sexually abused a visually impaired Senior Four student.
Different members of the disabled groups that attended today’s court session showed dismay saying that they expected the court to consider their status and that of the victim of being a disabled person and blind to have timely court proceedings.

“The suspect was first arrested in December 2023, from that time, we expected police to have conducted its investigations for all these months. By this time, we would be having the case committed to high court but the last time we were in court, the prosecution said that investigations were still pending!” said Charity Amende, of Reach a Voice Uganda.
