Former KCCA ED , Dorothy Kisaka detained, to be charged in court

Former KCCA Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka will spend at least spend a night behind the bars at Nateete Police Station, this website has learnt.Kisaka’s former deputy, Eng. David Luyimbazi, and former KCCA Director of public health, Daniel Okello will too spend their nights in the coolers at Nateete where they were booked on Wednesday afternoon.“The three have been detained and from here, they will arraigned in courts of law,” Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke said on Wednesday. The trio had been summoned by the Criminal Investigations Directorate at Kibuli as part of the ongoing investigation into the Kiteezi mess that saw over 30 people killed when the city’s only dumpsite collapsed.Following hours of grilling, the trio was booked into Nateete Police Station where they are expected to spend at least a night before being taken to court on several charges related to negligence. The sacking of the trio by President Museveni stemmed from an investigation by the Inspector General of Government (IGG).The IGG’s report revealed severe negligence and mismanagement at the Kiteezi site, Uganda’s largest landfill, which led to the fatal incident. The president consequently directed the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID)  to thoroughly probe the matter, particularly focusing on potential criminal negligence linked to this tragic event. The trio is expected to be remanded to Luzira, just like a number of government officials and ministers who in the past have followed this route to prison over corruption. In the three former KCCA officials’ case, there were earlier reports that Kiteezi landfill was a disaster in waiting but they ignored the alerts.   https://www.ugbulletin.co.ug/former-kcca-ed-dorothy-kisaka-detained-to-be-charged-in-court/
