Foul play suspected in Table Mountain blaze

The City of Cape Town says it suspects arson in a blaze in the Table Mountain National Park near Devil’s Peak off Phillip Kgosana Drive on Monday.
Helicopters had to be dispatched to water bomb three areas in which fires were burning on the slopes of the mountain.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security JP Smith says in the past three months, the City has seen a surge in suspected arson and has registered 194 dockets.
Smith says there is evidence that criminal elements are seeking to cause widespread destruction.
No injuries or damage to properties have been reported following Monday’s fire.
