Four Arrested For Hacking Policeman
Four suspected thugs have been arrested for allegedly hacking a policeman Frederick Baguma. Baguma, a resident of Kirinda-Busabala Parish, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, in Wakiso district was attacked at around 3 am on Wednesday.
Baguma later alerted his colleagues at Katwe police division who deployed sniffer dogs which led to the arrest of four suspects Mukiibi Umar, Mawanda Jimmy, Ecau Abraham, and Canodia Joseph. They were picked up inside a nearby construction site.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, adding that they robbed a flat-screen valued at 1.2 million shillings. However, Owoyesigyire said the suspects were not found with any of the stolen items but they are currently detained at Katwe police division.
“At approximately 3:00 AM, it is alleged that assailants gained access to Officer Baguma’s residence and stole a flat-screen television valued at 1.2 million UGX and a small bag containing an unspecified amount of money. The assailants inflicted injuries on the victim before fleeing the scene. Officer Baguma promptly reported the incident to the police,” Owoyesigyire said.
Meanwhile, police in Kassanda district are looking for an unidentified suspect who attacked the home of an 80-year-old man, Hire Kabutohize, and cut him to death.
Racheal Kawala, the Wamala regional police spokesperson, said the suspect who was armed with a pang accessed the deceased’s home on Tuesday at 8 pm while with his wife in the sitting room. Kawala explained that the attacker forced the woman to enter her bedroom leaving the deceased alone and cut him several times.
According to Kawala, the incident happened at Kiwangula LCI, Ndeeba parish, Mannyogaseka Sub-County.
Police have launched a hunt for the suspect and also interrogations are being done of the widow.
