The National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadres in Hoima City are in high gear mobilising the population to welcome Uganda’s President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who will be in the city for his presidential campaign.Huge banners are being erected in different parts of the city, while meetings continue at various levels to streamline preparations. The Western Region Vice Chairman of the ruling NRM party, Eng Jonard Asiimwe, said the youth remain at the center of all government plans. He urged them to support NRM candidates – from the President to the lowest elective positions – while casting their votes for the 2026–31 political term.Eng Asiimwe made the remarks while addressing the Regional Party Structure Meeting for all NRM flag bearers, aimed at preparing them to warmly welcome the party president during his campaign visit to Hoima this week.He expressed optimism that President Museveni will score highly in Bunyoro in the forthcoming elections, citing the tremendous achievements registered by the party. Eng. Asiimwe, who also serves as the NRM Chairman for Hoima City, had earlier held a press conference with journalists to brief them about the President’s visitDuring the regional meeting, Ms Rosemary Sseninde from the NRM Secretariat, emphasised the need for leaders to understand their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) while mobilising votes for President Museveni. She noted that during the 2021/2025 general elections, some party structures did not perform as expected due to inadequate analysis, which lowered the overall victory percentage.“We were still using the party’s Task Force, and later we discovered a lot of weaknesses,” she said.
