Judgment reserved in bid to interdict ANC Eastern Cape conference

Judgment has been reserved until tomorrow in the East London High Court in an urgent application to interdict the Provincial Elective Conference of the African National Congress (ANC) in KuGompo in the Eastern Cape.
Disgruntled party members took the ANC to court over their dissatisfaction regarding the convening of Branch General Meetings.
The members believe the conference can’t go ahead without their disputes being resolved by the party.
They say 99 branches still have pending disputes which have not been resolved by the party’s National Dispute Resolution Committee.
Members alleged that branches were manipulated and, as a result, some did not even convene their meetings.
Their application comes as the conference is set to start on Friday.
ANC’s legal team has argued that the matter is not urgent, saying that the conference should go ahead as planned.
