Kigozi Fires UPDF to first League Victory
Thursday, September 19UPDF 1-0 LugaziKitara 1-2 NEC
Andrew Samson Kigozi’s 78th-minute strike secured UPDF FC’s first victory of the 2024/2025 season.
The winning goal was the result of a well-orchestrated move, with Zzinda Hussein providing a precise pass that allowed Kigozi to calmly finish past Emuran Fahad.
This win brings UPDF to four points from two matches, following their earlier 1-1 draw against Maroons.
Lugazi, on the other hand, remains without a win or a goal in the top flight after a 3-0 defeat to Kitara in Najjembe.
UPDF had several opportunities to score earlier in the match, with Farid Rashid and Samuel Ssekamatte forcing saves from the goalkeeper, though they were unable to capitalize.
The Visitors’ attacking efforts were largely neutralized by UPDF FC’s solid defense, with goalkeeper Waswa Yusuf facing few significant challenges.
This victory was crucial for UPDF FC, as they needed all three points to maintain their early-season momentum.
