This comes after one of the independent candidate on 15th of this month missed on ballot paper prompting EC to postpone the elections and re-schedule it for 27-1-2026.
Ngompek was declared winner by Returning Officer kiryandongo district Rashid Musingunzi.This will be the second term for Ngompek since he assumed the seat in 2021 once he takes the oath in may 2026.
Ngompek gunned 14,525 votes which is 59% followed by the former member of Parliament Idi Amin Taban independent with 8444 votes which is 35.37% .Other candidates include Lumansi Benjamin of National Economic Empowerment Dialogue got 343 votes which is 1.44%.NUPs Alinaitwe Rogers got 257 which is 1.18%,Bagonza David Byemaiso of Democratic Front gathered Votes representing 0.36%as well UPC flag bearer Ochan Zacharias got 84 votes which is 0.35%.Likambo Bahat Taylor got 58 votes representing 0.24% and lastly Wetaka William FDC candidate got 39 votes which was 0.16%.
Kibanda North registered poor turn up of voters due to various reasons across the constituency. According to kiryandongo district Returning Officer, kibanda north has a total number of 106712 voters but only 24543 showed up yesterday with a total number of 23953 valid vote,590 invalid votes.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com news website after his victory, Ngompek attributed his victory to God saying it has not been an easy journey in various ways citing financial challenges where he spent over 1.5 billion since the campaign began till yesterday.
He also cited hypocrisy amongst supporters where he says it’s not easy to deal with human beings.
“I have come to learn that it’s Human beings are not easy. Atleast i have learnt lessons in this campaign. It has taught me much for next time”. MP Elect Ngombek observed.
On the issue of key issues to focus on in Kiryandongo district, he says 70% of the land is owned by Absent land lords, 10% by government ranches and 10%by community saying poor people are under threat and living in fear.
“My task is to ensure engage government and end land issues or buy land to resettle people. Ngompek stated”.
He also promised to remind government on elevation of Kiryandongo Hospital following their request to the president of the republic of Uganda when he recently came there during general campaigns.
Ngompek also vowed to bring to an end issues of tribal differences in Kiryandongo district among others.
