Luwemba was among the aspirants who were denied the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag to contest in the Kawempe North by-election, after failing to meet the party’s vetting requirements. He later stood as an independent candidate for the position of Lord Councillor, but was unsuccessful.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Luwemba revealed that he has chosen to shift his focus to other engagements outside politics. During his most recent political activities, he gained notable support from members of the National Peasants Party (NPP).
Luwemba rose to prominence following the death of Kawempe North Member of Parliament, the late Muhammad Ssegirinya, where he played a key role in mobilizing and coordinating matters concerning the deceased’s family. He was also widely recognized for providing consistent and credible information regarding Ssegirinya’s estate.
