Preview: Maroons Eye Perfect Start

Maroons FC will aim to extend their dominance over UPDF FC at the Luzira Prisons Ground, where the Army side has struggled in recent visits, with three losses and one draw in their last four matches.

Maroons triumphed 4-2 in their previous encounter last season.

Following a busy transfer window, Maroons FC is set for a strong start to the season.

Despite the departure of key players such as top scorer Amaku Fred, Best Play Maker Abraham Tusubira, and goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo, the Prison Warders have made notable acquisitions, including goalkeepers Simon Tamale and Hassan Matovu, and outfield players Ibrahim Dada, Ivan Asaba, Bashir Mutanda, Ambrose Kirya, and Apollo Kagogwe.

Maroons had a robust pre-season, featuring high-profile friendlies and participating in the FUFA Super 8.

They lost to SC Villa and KCCA on penalties but secured victories against Police FC, Wakiso Giants, and Maroons Legend in friendlies.

In contrast, UPDF FC is determined to overcome relegation odds after strengthening their squad.

They are winless in their last three opening-day games and will look to improve their away performance in the Uganda Premier League.

New signings like Samuel Ssekamatte, Andrew Samson Kigozi, and Joseph Janjali aim to bring consistency to the team this season.

The Bombo-based side played a pre-season friendly against KCCA FC, losing 2-1, and also faced Kiyinda Boys and Wobulenzi Select.
