National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola gives evidence before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on October 9, 2025.

Masemola returns to Parliament’s Ad Hoc committee

National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola will appear before Parliament’s Ad Hoc committee looking into national security concerns on Tuesday morning.
Masemola is returning to the committee to answer some of the matters that arose during the course of the committee hearings.
During his evidence in October last year, the committee heard of his preference for gradually winding down the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) rather than abruptly disbanding it.
Masemola emphasised that the infiltration of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster was carried out by a small group of individuals or cartels with the sole purpose of seizing control.
The Presidency is also expected to submit written answers to questions it received from the committee regarding allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system being investigated by the committee.
The allegations were made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during a media briefing in July last year.
The Ad Hoc committee must hand in its final report at the end of this month.
