MEC Mahlatsi calls for urgent action after UFS study on sanitary pads

Free State Health MEC Monyatso Mahlatsi has called for urgent co-ordinated action after a University of the Free State (UFS) study.
Certain chemicals were found in some sanitary pads and panty liners following the study.
Mahlatsi says there is no evidence of immediate harm, but the findings have raised concerns about possible long-term exposure.
The MEC says a Rapid Response Technical Task Team has been established to assess the implications.
