Mercy K. Kainobwisho Honored as 2024 Outstanding Public Officer of the Year

Mercy K. Kainobwisho, the Registrar General, CEO, and Accounting Officer of the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), has been celebrated with the 2024 Outstanding Public Officer of the Year award by the KACITA Quality Awards.

This accolade is a testament to her exceptional contributions to public service and her innovative leadership, marking just one of many recognitions Kainobwisho has received both locally and internationally.

Known for her work in public service, corporate governance, corporate law, and intellectual property, she stands out as a transformative figure in Uganda’s public sector.

Beyond her extensive duties at URSB, Kainobwisho plays an active role in the Africa Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), reflecting her influence on a global scale.

She has spearheaded critical reforms at URSB, such as the digitization and automation of records, which have greatly improved operational efficiency.

Under her leadership, URSB was named Government Agency of the Year in 2024, an honour that recognizes these transformative advancements.

A firm advocate for the importance of human resources, Kainobwisho has also focused on empowering URSB’s staff, implementing initiatives that enhance their benefits and development, and acknowledging them as central to the agency’s success.

Kainobwisho’s dedication to leadership began early and has only grown stronger over the years.
