Thursday, September 19*Kitara 1-2 NEC*UPDF 1-0 Lugazi*Vipers 3-0 Express

Milton Karisa netted twice to help Vipers SC secure a 3-0 victory over Express FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, marking their first win of the season.

Fumador Asiwome added the third goal as Vipers put on a show.

Coming into the match after a 3-1 loss to NEC in their opener, Vipers were desperate for maximum points to kickstart their campaign.

Coach Nikola Kavazovic’s side lined up with a three-man defense, controlling the game from the start and pinning Express into their own half.

The breakthrough came in the 21st minute when Karisa reacted quickly to a rebound after Express goalkeeper Michael Kagiri spilled Annest Ankunda’s initial shot, putting Vipers 1-0 up.

Karisa doubled his tally in the 75th minute, capitalizing on Express’ failure to clear a corner, firing home from close range after two successive saves from goalkeeper Kagiri.

Asiwome sealed the victory in the 88th minute, calmly controlling a pass from Gusto Mulongo, who had beaten Dauson Mafumu on the left flank, before slotting past Kagiri.

Despite the comfortable scoreline, Express had their chances but were left to rue missed opportunities.

Sam Ssenyonjo saw a one-on-one effort saved by the Vipers keeper and later failed to convert a close-range chance from

Ashraf Mbazira’s cross. Alpha Ssali narrowly missed the target after receiving a pass from Saidi Kyeyune, while Rashid Kawawa couldn’t capitalize on a keeper’s mistake after a low cross from Ssenyonjo.

Express remain on three points after their earlier 2-1 win over Mbale Heroes, while Vipers finally got off the mark with this important victory.
