Police in Kampala are investigating a tragic double murder involving a man who was lynched by an angry mob after beheading his wife. The incident occurred on Monday morning in Jjuuko Zone, Makindye Division, where a man identified only as Kkonde beheaded his wife, 19-year-old Sharon Rukundo, according to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson.Onyango explained that Rukundo and Kkonde had been in a relationship for two years, which resulted in the birth of a child.Recently, however, the couple developed misunderstandings, prompting Rukundo to leave Kkonde’s home and seek refuge with her aunt. She also started working at her aunt’s restaurant in the neighborhood. On Monday morning, Kkonde allegedly called Rukundo’s aunt, threatening that something bad would happen to both families.Shortly afterward, he reportedly took a panga (machete) and beheaded Rukundo. As he attempted to flee the scene, an angry mob apprehended him and beat him to death.“Both bodies have been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem as investigations into the double murder commence,” Onyango confirmed.Eyewitnesses reported that Rukundo and Kkonde had a heated argument on Sunday, during which Kkonde made ominous threats. The following morning, as Rukundo was retrieving plates from customers at the restaurant, Kkonde suddenly attacked her with a machete and beheaded her.“He tried to run, but the locals gathered, chased him, and beat him to death,” said one eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the situation.Police have launched an investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.https://www.ugbulletin.co.ug/mob-lynches-man-after-he-beheads-wife-in-kampala/
