Deputy National Police Commissioner Tebello Mosikili says the tone of the content of the letter giving the directive to disband the Political Killing Task Team (PKTT) was confusing.
Mosikili says the directive was given to National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on the 31st December 2025.
Mchunu has been placed on special leave.
Mosikili is testifying before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee.
She says at the time, she was acting National Police Commissioner because Masemola was on leave.
“To be honesty and frank I became confused. I was unsure. I was also surprised and I questioned the authenticity of the directives as I could not believe the content and precisely because of the tone of the letter. For me it was unexpected and in particular the national commissioner will have a discussion on the matters to attend to and the date was to close from the time the national commissioner was to start the leave.”
