Museveni pledges to resolve Born Again churches registration issues
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has committed to resolving the contentious issue of registering modern churches as Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), stating that a church should not be classified as an NGO.He made these remarks during the Universal Church Mega Youth Crusade in Kaliro, organized by Prophet David Isanga of the Universal Apostles Fellowship Church of Righteousness. The crusade, themed “Remember Your Creator In the Days of Your Youth Before the Days of Evil Come,” drew thousands of attendees. Museveni’s pledge followed Prophet Isanga’s request to end the practice of periodic registration of churches as NGOs.“This Church is unique in its calling, founded by typical Ugandans, and it should not be subjected to the same registration requirements as NGOs or companies,” said Prophet Isanga. In his address, President Museveni also urged the people of Busoga to adopt the 4-acre model of farming to increase their wealth. He emphasized the importance of diversifying agricultural practices and using wetlands sustainably.During the event, Museveni commended the congregation for adhering to the “four dimensions of Jesus Christ,” which include preaching the gospel, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and working diligently.Reflecting on the NRM’s early days, Museveni recounted how he resisted pressure to ban certain churches, emphasizing the importance of religious freedom.“The decision not to ban churches has added value to our country by creating new energy within the religious community,” he said.Museveni also contributed Shs100 million to the church’s SACCO, further demonstrating his support for the institution. The event was attended by several ministers, members of parliament, and thousands of believers who pledged their continued support for the NRM government. https://www.ugbulletin.co.ug/museveni-pledges-to-resolve-born-again-churches-registration-issues/
