Friday, September 6*JKL Lady Dolphins 62-51 UCU Lady Canons (3-2)
JKL Lady Dolphins continued their impressive resurgence in the National Basketball League (NBL) Finals, defeating UCU Lady Canons 62-51 on Friday at Lugogo.
With the victory, JKL now leads the best-of-seven series 3-2 and are just one win away from defending their title.
After losing the first two games of the series, JKL bounced back with three consecutive wins to seize control of the finals.
Their Game 5 triumph was marked by a strong start, taking a 35-26 lead at halftime and never relinquished their control.
UCU, on the other hand, struggled to find rhythm, committing 26 turnovers and converting only 4 of their 27 three-point attempts.
Shakirah Nanvubya was the lone bright spot for UCU, scoring 16 points, but none of her teammates managed to reach double figures.
JKL’s dominance was led by Hope Akello, who recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Jane Asinde also impressed with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Rita Imanishimwe and Brenda Ekone chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
UCU, coached by Nicholas Natuhereza, now faces an uphill battle. They must win Game 6 on Sunday to force a decisive Game 7, or JKL will be crowned champions once again.
