Ndejje Angels Take Relegation Fight To KIU Titans
Wednesday, March 22*JKL Lady Dolphins Vs Miracle Ravens – 7pm*Ndejje Angels Vs KIU Titans – 9pm
Ndejje Angels’ struggle to avoid relegation in the National Basketball League intensifies as they prepare to face the KIU Titans on Wednesday at Lugogo.
Under the guidance of coach John Omondi, the Angels currently sit at the bottom of the 12-team league, with a record of three wins and 14 losses.
Ndejje’s victories came early in the season, with triumphs over Livingstone (64-55), Kampala Rockets (86-84), and UCU Canons (76-72).
However, since their unexpected win against UCU Canons on April 3, the team has been on a seven-game losing streak, solidifying their position as prime candidates for relegation this season.
This decline marks a significant downturn for the Angels, who last season were the only team to defeat the City Oilers during the regular season.
The departure of key player Christian Ndibu to Kampala Rockets before the start of the second round and the unavailability of James Obrack in recent games have severely impacted the team’s performance in recent games.
Facing the KIU Titans presents another formidable challenge for Ndejje. The Titans handed them a heavy 85-53 defeat in the first round and are currently in excellent form, boasting 12 wins and just three losses.
Guard Tembo Kasereka has been pivotal for the Titans, consistently delivering exceptional performances.
Although they will miss Ivan Lumanyika, the Titans have demonstrated they possess the depth and talent to overcome the Angels.
For Ndejje to stand a chance of survival, they need at least three more wins, with only five games remaining. In addition to the upcoming match against KIU Titans, their remaining fixtures are against Dmark Power, UCU Canons, KCCA Panthers, and the nine-time league champions, City Oilers.
