Chief Whip Aceng Roots for Professionalism Among Parliament Staff


Kampala– Hon. Dr. Ruth Aceng, the Government Chief Whip, has called for teamwork, integrity, and professionalism among staff serving in the Office of the Leader of Government Business at  Parliament.

During her maiden meeting with staff from the above department Aceng emphasized the need for professionalism in ensuring smooth operations.
Expressing her enthusiasm about working with the team, Dr. Aceng emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct in the execution of their duties.
“I am happy to work as Government Chief Whip. I like a team that is prayerful, with a high level of integrity, hardworking and honest,” Dr. Aceng said.
The Director of the Department, Mr. Kiiza Charles Lwanga, welcomed Hon. Dr. Aceng to Parliament and pledged the staff’s full commitment and cooperation as she undertakes her new responsibilities.
The Government Chief Whip serves as the political engine of the ruling party in Parliament. The office plays a critical role in coordinating government business, assisting the Prime Minister in advancing the legislative agenda, enforcing party discipline, and leading the ruling party’s parliamentary caucus.
Dr. Aceng’s meeting with staff marked an important step in fostering collaboration and strengthening the working relationship between the leadership and technical teams responsible for managing government business in Parliament.
She replaced Hon. Hamson Obua who came in office after Hon. Thomas Tayebwa was elected Deputy Speaker a few years back.
