The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Kampala Region has revised its roadmap for the 2026 Ball Games II qualifiers, with competitions now scheduled for June 25 and 26 at Kibuli Secondary School and Kakungulu Memorial School.
According to a circular issued by the Kampala Region Schools Games and Sports Association (KRSGSA) General Secretary, Ayub Khalifa, the adjustment was necessitated by unforeseen circumstances. The climax of the regional championships will take place at Kibuli Secondary School on June 26.
For starters before the games were to be hosted at various grounds including Ham Stadium.
The two-day event will bring together schools from across Kampala to compete for places at the national championships in several disciplines. The Ball Games II Kampala Region qualifiers will feature Under-20 competitions in netball, handball, volleyball, woodball, chess, scrabble and ludo, Lacrosse, Kho Kho and others.
Football will also take centre stage, with boys’ and girls’ Under-15 teams battling for qualification to the CAF African Schools Football Championship, while boys’ and girls’ Under-17 teams will compete in their respective categories.
In addition to the mainstream competitions, the region has introduced four other sporting activities to enrich the programme. These include Rugby Sevens, athletics, lacrosse and Kho Kho, which will be showcased as a demonstration sport.
Schools intending to participate in Rugby Sevens, athletics, Kho Kho and lacrosse have been requested to communicate with the Organising Secretary through 0782387210.
The Kampala Region organisers expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the change in schedule and wished all participating schools a successful sporting season.
The revised roadmap is expected to set the stage for an exciting showcase of talent as schools intensify preparations for the regional showdown and the quest for national qualification.
