Junior Prisons Officers Promoted at Luzira Upper in Landmark Pipping Ceremony

Luzira– A total of 100 junior officers at Luzira Upper Maximum Security Prison have been officially promoted in a significant pipping and chevroning ceremony, marking a major milestone in their careers within the Uganda Prisons Service.

The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Xavier Francis Elubu, the Assistant Commissioner of Prisons and Regional Prisons Commander (RPC) for Kampala Extra Region. In his remarks, Mr. Elubu outlined the rigorous promotion process, explaining that it begins at the station level, progresses through the regional promotions board, and is ultimately approved at the Prisons Headquarters.
He emphasized that the process involves thorough assessments to ensure that only competent and deserving officers are elevated in rank.
Mr. Elubu also underscored the weight of responsibility that comes with each promotion, reminding officers of the sensitive nature of their work. He urged them to uphold discipline, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to duty as they take on their new roles.
A highlight of the ceremony was the commissioning of three Chief Warders to the rank of Principal Officer II (PO II), a notable achievement that drew appreciation from colleagues and supervisors alike.
The promoted officers included 3 Chief Warders Grade I, 1 Chief Warder Grade II, 4 Chief Warders Grade III, 48 Sergeants, 2 Corporals, and 39 Lance Corporals.
The ceremony not only recognized individual merit but also reaffirmed the Uganda Prisons Service’s commitment to professionalism and structured career progression.
