Nakawuka Road to be Closed for Three Months


Kampala– The Government of Uganda through Ministry of Works have announced a temporary Closure of Nateete Nakawuka Road for three months with effect from 15th May 2026.

According to the press statement signed by Mr. Bageya Waiswa the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Works, the closure is to enable contractors work on drainage
Culverts under the ongoing road upgrade project.
“The affected section runs from Mutundwe Road junction to Old
Masaka Road junction. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes including Old Masaka Road, Masaka Road, Entebbe Road through Kajansi, as well as Mutundwe and Wankulukuku connections.” Reads part of the statement
Bageya added that, the works are intended to improve drainage, reduce flooding, and Enhance road durability.
Therefore, all road users have been urged to follow traffic guidance and directional signage during the construction period.
In March 2024, Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja launched the upgrading of Nakawuka Road.
The existing roads was to be upgraded to grade II asphalt roads standard whose typical cross-section consists of a 7m wide carriageway and 2m long shoulders on both sides. The distance between Nakawuka and Mawagulu, Nanziga and Maya is 22 Km and 11 Km respectvely while that between Buwaya and Entebbe is 9 Km.
