\n\u201cOn the issue of Deputy Speaker, after getting guidance from the Commander-in-Chief, all PLU MPs and PLU leaning MPs will support Rt.Honourable @Thomas_Tayebwa for that position. Congratulations Rt.Honourable.\u201d remarked Gen Muhoozi via his official X handle.
\nRecently, after concluding his tenure as Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa stated that he is willing to take up any assignment that the head of State may seem fit for him.
\nPLU earlier on endorsed Hon. Maxwell Oboth Oboth as the Speaker for the 12th Parliament and this decision was supported by majority of the newly sworn in PLU, NRM and all leaning legislators.
\nVoting of the new Speaker and his Deputy is expected to be held on 25th May 2026.<\/p>\n\n
