\nIn the statement dated Monday 18th May 2026, by Uganda Episcopal Conference signed by Rt Rev Fr. Anthony Zziwa, the Chairperson of the conference, welcomed the decision and provided alternatives to believers.
\n\u201cAlthough the national gathering at Namugongo has been postponed, dioceses and parishes are encouraged to celebrate the day with the guidance of the Diocesan Bishop and the relevant Government authorities.\u201d Remarked Zziwa
\nHe also urged all believers to join in prayers for our nation, health workers, and all those affected by the circumstances that necessitated the postponement.
\n\u201cWe urge you all to follow the guidelines given by the Government and the Ministry of Health. We call upon media institutions to provide adequate coverage of the Ebola pandemic.\u201d
\nHowever, on the other hand, Rev. Fr. Zziwa asked all Christians to remain calm, prayerful,united, and hopeful.
\nOn Sunday, the Government through President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, postponed this year\u2019s Martyrs day celebrations to protect believers against Ebola Outbreak.<\/p>\n\n
