\nDuring an election presided over by Chief Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija, Oboth Oboth obtained 441 votes, Paul Mwiru 60 votes, Norbert Mao 15 votes and the spoilt votes were 3 votes.
\nDuring nomination, Oboth\u2019s name was done by Hon. Jessica Alupo, the Katakwi Woman Member of Parliament and it was seconded by Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, the member of Parliament for Kibale East.
\n\u201cUnder my leadership, we will cultivate a culture of absolute integrity and zero tolerance to corruption anchored in President Museveni\u2019s clarion call to corruption-free Parliament in the next 5 years.\u201d Remarked Oboth in his maiden speech
\nOboth promised that he will be serving all Ugandans regardless of their political affiliation adding that he is a Speaker for all including all those that didn\u2019t vote him.
\n\u201cThe Speaker\u2019s chair is not a throne; it is a servant\u2019s post. My role now is to collaborate with all of you to make sure that the voices of over 48 million are represented and respected\u201d.

\nImmediately after being sworn in, he resumed office by presiding over the election of his Deputy, Thomas Tayebwa\u2019s name has been nominated by Nebbi Woman Member of Parliament, Phiona Nyamutooro being seconded by Hon. Robert Migadde from Buvuuma Islands. Currently the nominations for candidates on the same position is still underway.<\/p>\n\n
