By Evans NajunaIt was a change of guard at the Ministry of Finance as Hajjat Amina Mukalazi officially took over from Evelyn Anite as State Minister for Privatization and Investment, vowing to attract more investors, create jobs and accelerate Uganda\u2019s industrial growth.The handover ceremony, witnessed by Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury Dr. Ramathan Ggoobi, marked the end of Anite\u2019s tenure and the beginning of a new chapter in one of government\u2019s most crucial economic offices.Taking charge, Mukalazi thanked President Yoweri Museveni for the trust placed in her, describing the appointment as a privilege and an opportunity to serve Ugandans.\u201cI am committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure Uganda remains an attractive destination for investment,\u201d she said.Mukalazi also hailed her predecessor for the work done in promoting investment and privatization, promising to build on the gains already achieved rather than start from scratch.The new minister pledged to tackle challenges affecting investors and businesses, saying her focus will be on attracting investments that add value to Uganda\u2019s raw materials, create employment opportunities and increase export earnings.Outgoing minister Anite left office with her head held high, thanking the ministry\u2019s technical staff for their support throughout her tenure.She pointed to several achievements under her watch, including the continued expansion of Namanve Industrial Park and the establishment of Mbale Industrial Park, projects that have played a major role in attracting industries and creating jobs.Anite pledged to support her successor whenever needed, saying the investment agenda is bigger than any individual office holder.Dr. Ggoobi applauded Anite for championing Uganda\u2019s investment drive and strengthening relationships with investors over the years.He also welcomed Mukalazi, describing her new role as central to Uganda\u2019s economic transformation agenda and government\u2019s ambitious plan to grow the economy tenfold.\u201cThe technical team is ready. Our mandate is clear.
