The decision was reached after a consultation meeting between district leaders and veterinary experts, who warned of a high risk of cross-district transmission if animal movement is not urgently controlled.<br \/>\nKamwenge Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Afrikano Aharikundira said the closure is a preventive containment measure aimed at protecting livestock and safeguarding farmers\u2019 livelihoods. He explained that the move followed technical guidance from veterinary officers and was agreed upon during a district coordination meeting after alerts indicated increasing disease risk.<br \/>\nAfrikano noted that surveillance and response efforts have been intensified across the district to monitor and control any potential outbreak.
