\nSheikh Mbogo who passed away on Friday, began his service in the 1950s and later served concurrently as the main preacher at the National Mosque of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) at Old Kampala and as the Kadhi of Kampala Muslim District from 1972 until his retirement ten years ago.
\nIn his condolence message to the bereaved family, the Mufti praised the late Sheikh Mbogo as a pious Muslim who lived an illustrious life. He described him as soft-spoken, humble, wise, and a person who practised and mirrored the divine messages he preached from the Holy Quran and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) throughout his decades of service.
\n\u201cSheikh Mbogo has served the Muslim community wholeheartedly with total dedication and in the same way has left an outstanding legacy as a very principled and loyal person, as well as one of the founding members of the Democratic Party (DP), Uganda\u2019s oldest political party.\u201d
\nThe Mufti has dedicated special prayers for the soul of the deceased as he returns to Almighty Allah, the Creator.
\nThe Mufti has directed the UMSC Secretary for Religious Affairs to organise funeral prayers at the National Mosque shortly after the Thuhur congregational prayers on Saturday, June 13th, 2026. He also called upon Muslim faithful to turn up in large numbers to honour the departed elder.
\nHe concluded by praying for the immediate family to remain united, patient, and steadfast as they mourn their family head.
