Recently, disagreements over appointments to theDistrict Public Service Commission have once again created unnecessary tension, withsome matters reportedly ending up in court. We must ask ourselves: what is ourproblem?In a democratic society, not all of us can be Chairpersons, CEC members, or officeholders at the same time. Leadership positions are held by individuals for a given term,after which others may also have an opportunity to serve. Those who are unsuccessfulshould graciously accept the outcome and prepare to try again after the five-yearelectoral cycle.Our district has previously suffered setbacks because of internal divisions. We riskedlosing major development opportunities such as the World Bank market project, and wemay now jeopardize opportunities under the Uganda Cities and MunicipalitiesInfrastructure Development Programme if we fail to respect the mandate of leaderselected and appointed through lawful processes.I therefore appeal to those who have taken these matters to court to considerwithdrawing the cases unconditionally in the greater interest of Bushenyi District. Let usplace development, service delivery, and the welfare of our people above personalinterests.I also call upon all stakeholders, especially former and current Members of Parliament, formerMinisters, and those holding senior positions in government, to support and guide thenew leadership so that together we can move Bushenyi District forward.Let us unite behind a common vision of peace, development, and prosperity for all.Thank you, and may God bless Bushenyi District.Amb.
