But under Mujabi’s guidance, the Kiboga-based side is determined to rewrite that script and push deeper into the tournament.
Their Day One performance summed up that ambition. Despite suffering a narrow 16-13 loss to Hamdan Islamic SS, Kyantamba responded emphatically, thrashing Nakaloke SS 27-08 in a statement victory that underlined their resilience and growth.
Mujabi Ephraim giving instructions during the 2025 University games in Mukono
Mujabi, who has built a reputation as one of the most dedicated figures in school netball, brings a wealth of experience and success to the Kyantamba setup. Since 2018, he has been instrumental in shaping teams across different regions, notably at Trinity Catholic High School Nalweyo in Kakumiro District.
His trophy cabinet tells the story of consistency and excellence—seven U20 district titles in Kakumiro, a U20 regional crown, a U16/U17 regional title, and a U17 district championship. He also guided a team to a fourth-place finish at the 2025 national championships in Bukedea, further cementing his credentials.
Beyond Trinity Catholic, Mujabi’s influence has stretched across several schools including Kiboga Progressive, Kiboga Light College, and Saviour High School. His recent stint as interim coach at Bugema University added another layer to his growing reputation, with many beginning to recognize his coaching prowess beyond his established profile in umpiring.
One of his most remarkable journeys came with St. Kateera High School, a side that had dominated district championships for 15 consecutive years. After enduring heartbreak in 10 finals, Mujabi finally broke the jinx—an experience that reflects both persistence and evolution in his coaching career.
Now at Kyantamba SS, a team representing Kiboga District in the Luwero Region, Mujabi is blending experience with ambition. The team already boasts strong credentials, having secured district championships at both U17 and U20 levels and clinching the Luwero regional U17 title ahead of UMEA.
Their performances in Mbale suggest a side on the rise—disciplined, motivated, and eager to surpass past limitations.
Elsewhere on Day One, defending champions Greenlight Islamic SS opened strongly with a 17-11 win over Namagabi SS and repeated the same scoreline against Hamdan Girls. Kawanda SS impressed with two commanding victories, while Kaddugala SS also made a bright start with a 17-06 win over Kakukugulu Memorial.
But amid all the action, it is Kyantamba SS’s resurgence—powered by Mujabi’s proven track record—that is capturing attention. With momentum building and belief growing, they look poised to challenge for more than just participation this time around.

Source link

By Kayiira Jackson Kyantamba Secondary School are steadily emerging as one of the most compelling stories at the ongoing UMEA Solidarity Games, with a renewed sense of purpose driven by the impressive résumé of their head coach, Ephraim Mujabi.
