He noted that the addition of solar panels will ensure continuous service delivery, especially during power outages, and help make childbirth safer.
He urged health workers to take proper care of the donated equipment to ensure its longevity and continued benefit to patients.
Tusubira further revealed that the donation is part of MTN Uganda’s “Change Mechanism” initiative, which was launched three years ago and is being implemented across different regions. He noted that this is the third phase of the program, through which the company has so far invested over UGX 1 billion in community support projects.
He added that the UGX 20 million contribution reflects MTN Uganda’s commitment to giving back to its customers by investing in the health sector to improve community well-being.
The In-Charge of Kyobugombe Health Centre II, Ekyarituha Preacher, said the facility has long lacked essential medical equipment, which has affected service delivery.
She also noted that most health workers live outside the facility due to the absence of staff housing. The facility currently has seven staff members, including four health workers, three support staff, and a security guard.
Ekyarituha added that the health centre attends to over 500 patients every month, highlighting the urgent need for improved infrastructure and support.
The Kabale District Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Michael Muramira Kyakashari, commended MTN Uganda for supporting the health facility and contributing to improved service delivery.
He urged health workers to utilize the donated equipment effectively and provide timely and quality healthcare services to patients. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining and protecting the equipment. He said that health workers should not complain about the lack of accommodation, noting that the government has increased their wages. He added that they can find temporary solutions, such as using tents, emphasizing that they should remain committed to their duties like disciplined personnel
Kyakashari encouraged district leaders to prioritize the construction of staff houses in the 2026/2027 budget to address accommodation challenges faced by health workers.

Source link

Post Views: 50 By Ambrose KwerondaIn Kabalewww.mknewslink.com—-MTN Uganda funduction has donated essential medical equipment worth UGX 20 million to Kyobugombe Health Centre II in Kabale District, in a move aimed at improving access to healthcare services within the community.
