At the famed Mukiibi’s Cathedral in Kavule, Mpigi, goals from Lutwama Ali, Rwothomio Brian, and Katende Eric silenced the hosts, ended a seven-year unbeaten home run, and crushed hopes of a fourth final appearance for the three-time losing finalists.
But this was not an isolated victory—it was the culmination of a ruthless campaign along Masaka Road.
Sserugo Geoffrey who scored Muteesa’s first goal in the league.
From the group stages, Muteesa I Royal University stamped their authority. They battled past Kabale University with a crucial 2-1 away win and edged Bishop Stuart University 1-0 in Mbarara to top Group B with 12 points, losing only once to Bugema University.
Then came the knockout rounds, where their grip on Masaka Road tightened.
Facing defending champions Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi in the quarterfinals, many expected the journey to end. After a 2-1 first-leg defeat, Muteesa responded with a determined 1-0 win at home, knocking out the champions on away goals. Another Masaka Road giant had fallen.
Next was St Lawrence University—arguably the strongest of them all. Yet, after a goalless first leg, the Royal Lions marched into Kavule and tore apart the narrative with a commanding 3-1 victory. Another fortress conquered. Another giant silenced.
One by one, the Masaka Road powerhouses have bowed.
What began as a late entry into the 2024/25 season—famously added to the draw in pen—has transformed into a story of calculated rise and territorial dominance. Unlike other debutants who crumbled under pressure, Muteesa I arrived prepared, studied the league, and executed with precision.
Now, there is little doubt: Masaka Road belongs to Muteesa I Royal University.
With every rival along that corridor dispatched, the Royal Lions have turned their regional dominance into a national statement. Their next mission lies beyond Masaka Road, as they prepare to face YMCA Comprehensive in the final on May 2, 2026.
The question now is no longer about Masaka Road.
It is whether the Kings can extend their rule across Uganda.

Source link

By Kayiira Jackson Muteesa I Royal University has not just reached the Pepsi University Football League final—they have

{"facebook_3659155457675267_172535249438148":"
[2

post-470","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority.jpg",1024,697,false
https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority-300x204.jpg",300,204,true
https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority-768x523.jpg",640,436,true
https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority.jpg",640,436,false],"1536x1536":["https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority.jpg",1024,697,false],"2048x2048":["https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority.jpg",1024,697,false
https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority-825x575.jpg",825,575,true
https://xavieradioug.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CORRIDOR-OF-CONQUEST-Muteesa-I-Rule-Masaka-Road-With-Authority-590x410.jpg",590,410,true
Editor
["GET
