\nThe visiting team met the Mufti during a meeting attended by UMSC departmental heads in the presence of His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the Second Deputy Mufti; Hon. Hajji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, the Secretary General; Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, the Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration; and Hon. Arinda Abdu-Razaq Arinda, the Deputy Secretary General in charge of Planning and Development, among others on wednesday April 29th 2026
\nSpeaking on behalf of the delegation, Bro. Jalal Ahmed Khan explained that the purpose of their courtesy visit was to introduce their mission of spreading the Islamic faith globally through modern digital technology.
\nHe noted that their organization has developed an application that provides well-designed and precise explanations of Islamic teachings based on authentic sources of the Holy Quran and Hadiths \u2013 divine saying of Prophet Muhammad (peace.be upon) to non-Muslim audiences in major world languages.
\n\u201cThis app is very easy to access and provides quick responses to various inquiries about Islamic beliefs and practices,\u201d he said while demonstrating the application using a projector. Additionally, Mr. Khan and his team briefed the meeting about the activities of their organizations, including the operation of a university in Pakistan.
\nIn his welcoming remarks, the Mufti gave the guests a brief background of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), its structure, and its activities since its establishment in 1972. \u201cIn fact, your coming is timely and serves as a revival of the long-standing cooperation between us, especially in the field of education. We have a big number of Ugandan Islamic scholars who studied in Pakistan. I am one of the many Ugandan Muslims who studied Islamic theological studies under a Pakistan-born Islamic tutor and founder of Bugembe Islamic Institute, one of the leading Islamic institutes in the country,\u201d the Mufti remarked.
\nThe two sides held extensive discussions on Islamic propagation and scholarship opportunities for Ugandans to study at universities in Pakistan.
\nThe meeting concluded with a resolution to explore ways of strengthening collaboration in the near future.
