\nThe stage is set for a thrilling climax to the 2025\/26 Pepsi University Football League as finalists YMCA and Muteesa I Royal University prepare to lock horns in a historic showdown this Saturday at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo.
\nThe two sides faced the media on Thursday, expressing confidence and determination ahead of what promises to be a fiercely contested final. Both teams are chasing their maiden league title after months of intense competition.
\nYMCA head coach Frances Totti Sande backed his squad\u2019s experience on big occasions to deliver victory.
\n\u201cI have a lot of confidence in my players because they have played many high-level matches, including the Masaza Cup. I believe we are going to lift the trophy,\u201d he said.
\nOn the opposing bench, Ssengabi George William struck a similarly optimistic tone, emphasizing his team\u2019s readiness.
\n\u201cWe appreciate the organizers of this tournament. My team is more than ready\u2014we have been waiting for this moment, and I strongly believe the trophy is heading to Masaka,\u201d he noted.
\nTeam captains Jjunju Eddie and Ratib Ramadhan echoed their coaches\u2019 sentiments, urging fans to turn up in large numbers and rally behind their sides in what they described as a defining moment.
\nMuteesa I Royal University booked their place in the final with an impressive 3-1 aggregate victory over St Lawrence University, ending the Saints\u2019 six-year unbeaten home run. YMCA, on the other hand, reached their first-ever final after edging Kampala University 6-5 in a tense penalty shootout following a closely fought semifinal.
\nSaturday\u2019s match will not only crown a new champion but also mark a milestone, as it will be the first time the league final is hosted at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo.
\nIn last year\u2019s edition, Uganda Martyrs University claimed the title with a commanding 3-0 victory over St Lawrence University at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.
\nWith both finalists seeking to write their own piece of history, all eyes will be on Nakivubo this weekend to see who rises to the occasion and lifts the coveted trophy.<\/p>\n\n
