At the time, securing land was a key requirement for Mpatta to attain sub-county status under the then Greater Ntenjeru Sub-county. This goal was achieved in 2015 when Mpatta was officially established as an independent sub-county.
After its creation, initial developments began on the land, including the construction of a pit latrine and the laying of a foundation for the sub-county headquarters, supported by a drawn physical plan.
However, progress stalled for more than five years, raising concern among community members who contributed resources toward the project.
In response, the issue was escalated through local leadership structures, leading to a stakeholders’ meeting held on 23rd April 2026. The meeting brought together community leaders, technical officers, and institutional representatives to find a lasting solution.
During that engagement, the LC II Chairperson of Mpatta Parish, Mr. Nsubuga Muhamed, acknowledged that he had been in custody of the land documents and presented them to stakeholders, confirming their authenticity.
Following this development, Mpatta Sub-county leadership—led by District Councilor Mr. Mbonye Emmanuel and Sub-county Chief Ms. Stella Aguti formally handed over the documents to the Chief Administrative Officer of Mukono District, Mr. Henry Ddamba, to ensure proper custody and facilitate administrative processes.
While receiving the documents, Mr. Ddamba commended the residents of Mpatta for their trustworthiness and commitment in safeguarding such important documents over the years. He urged sub-county leaders to ensure that the documents are now used effectively for their intended purpose, emphasizing that the absence of proper documentation had previously hindered meaningful development on the land.
The formal handover of land documents marks a critical breakthrough in addressing ownership challenges that have delayed the development of Mpatta Sub-county headquarters for years. With proper documentation now secured and institutional processes underway, the path is clear for surveying, titling, and eventual construction.
Continued collaboration among district leaders, community members, and relevant authorities will be key in transforming this long-standing vision into a functional administrative center that will enhance service delivery and development in Mpatta Sub-county.

Source link

Mukono District Local Government, in collaboration with Mpatta Sub-county leadership, has taken a major step toward resolving long-standing challenges surrounding the ownership and development of land designated for the sub-county headquarters.
