Ngaka Modiri Molema heads to court to recoup R4.6m from manager

The Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality in the North West intends to approach courts in a bid to recoup money from suspended municipal manager, Allan Losaba.
This, after the Auditor-General issued a R4,6 million certificate of debt to Losaba in November last year.
The move came after Losaba failed to recover funds overpaid to a water tanker service provider.
In December last year, the council resolved to suspend Losaba and appoint Aucharlie Mothupi to act.
The municipality says it’s failing to locate Losaba.
Executive Mayor Molefe Khumalo says Losaba has not been cooperative, and it’s been difficult getting hold of him.
“We expected so much, so in some instances we have to seek the services of the sheriff, just so he can see the draft agreement. To date, we have not succeeded in locating him. The option we have is to work on a clear ultimatum from the auditor general, and therefore we have taken the draft settlement agreement to court to make it an order of the court so that we’re able to enforce it”, Khumalo adds.
