By Andama MosesIn Hoimawww.mknewslink.comThe national NRM vice chairman Western Uganda Jonard Assiimwe has criticised the act of some politicians whose campaigns are based spread rumours not facts.
Asiimwe was addressing press conference in his home at Hoima on Wednesday ahead of presidents Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s coming to Bunyoro next month.
He noted that in recent campaigns, one of the candidates whom he didn’t cite spread rumours to people of Bunyoro that the region has not benefited from its fortunes like oil and gas.
“You cannot say that Bunyoro has not benefited from its fortunes and yet fortunes are for national not district or regions this is total lie” Asiimwe stressed.
Asiimwe adds that the candidate was quoted saying when he is voted into power as president he will give 25 % of the revenue collected out of the fortunes to the region and yet the country only gets 12.5% which he attributes it to luck of information which requires some of the candidates to go and read books.
He further stressed that it is Very important that candidates need to read hard and try to understand their manifestos and relate it to what exactly are factual or put even some Algebra to ensure that what they are communicating is appeasing the community.
In the same meeting, Asiimwe also warmed some NRM leaning candidates (independent) against using bad languages in their campaigns towards the flag bearers because of failure to agree on certain things saying they should remain focused on the ideology of the party which he termed it simply as avoiding sectarianism where he says is developing across the country.
