KAMPALA – The National Unity Platform (NUP) has announced a campaign swing through Western Uganda, signaling the official launch of its strategy for the 2026 general elections.
A campaign program poster circulating online details that the party’s leader, H.E. President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, will be rallying supporters in the districts of Mitooma, Bushenyi, and Rubirizi this Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Bobi wine carries a powerful message of political change, urging citizens to “rise up and demand a government that truly represents the people.” This call to action is central to the NUP’s campaign, which is operating under the banner of “#ProtestVote2026” and the overarching vision of a “A NEW UGANDA NOW!”
The #ProtestVote2026 slogan is widely interpreted as a direct appeal to voters to use their ballots as a form of mass protest against the current government led by President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power since 1986.
The campaign itinerary focuses on a key region in Ugandan politics, indicating the opposition’s intent to consolidate its support and win over undecided voters in the west. This move is seen as crucial for any candidate hoping to mount a serious challenge to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
As the 2026 elections draw closer, this campaign tour marks a significant step in what is expected to be a highly contested and closely watched political race in Uganda.
