Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Anywar tasked the new Board with steering the country’s water and sanitation agenda in line with national development priorities and global commitments, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She urged the members to embrace innovation, adopt emerging technologies, and promote cost-effective solutions to improve service delivery across the country.
The Minister emphasized the need for the Board to prioritize innovation and climate resilience, noting that climate change continues to pose significant challenges to water supply and sanitation systems. She called on the new leadership to ensure inclusive access to clean and safe water while strengthening institutional efficiency at NWSC.
Hon. Anywar further underscored government’s expectation that the Board will support the expansion of water and sewerage services, enhance operational sustainability, and contribute to Uganda’s broader socio-economic transformation.
The newly appointed Board members include Prof. Eng. Dr. Henry Mwanaki Alinaitwe, Ms. Annette Akiror, Ms. Jane Aciro, Mr. Robert Wambedde, Mr. Peter Rwakifaari Kibondo, Mrs. Mariam Mutalaga, and Eng. John Twinomujuni.
They join continuing Board members Prof. Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu, Rt. Hon. Daniel Kidega, and Canon Kasya Josephine, who bring institutional memory and leadership continuity.
Meanwhile, the Minister commended the outgoing Board members — Racheal Kiconco Mbabazi, Sarah Onyiru, Rtd. Col. Stephen Basaliza, and Mr. George Runge — for their service and contribution to the growth of the corporation.
NWSC remains a key public utility in Uganda’s development agenda, with the new Board expected to strengthen governance, improve service delivery, and support the realization of water and sanitation for all.
