Okot, Atandu Boost Buhimba Defence
New Big League entrants Buhimba Saints United have boosted their defensive options with addition of two new defenders ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The Kitara Regional League Champions have signed rightback Fred Okot and centreback Aggrey Atandu, both from Kyetume that suffered relegation back to the third division.
Okot and Atandu signed one-year deals respectively with the Kikuube-based side.
The two defenders were both part of Vialli Bainomugisha’s Big League tittle-winning Blacks Power at Aki Bua Stadium, Lira back in 2022.
Meanwhile, Atandu now has two Big League titles to his name, as he was also part of the Arua Hill team that won the Big League trophy and qualified to the UPL unbeaten under the tutelage of coach Hussein Mbalangu in 2021.
Buhimba is now the fourth club in which the two defenders have both featured for, besides Arua Hill, Blacks Power and Kyetume.
Atandu also previously played for Calvary in the Big League, while journeyman Okot has also previously played for Vipers, URA, MYDA, UPDF and Lweza in the Uganda Premier League.
Buhimba most recently appointed George Lutalo as head coach, and have also signed John Adriko, Derrick Byabachwezi, Job Owori, Hamza Ssempa, Edison Agondeze and Davis Kakaire amongst other new players at the club.
