OSullivan to complete testimony at Ad hoc Committee on Thursday

Parliament lays criminal charges against Paul O’Sullivan

It has been confirmed that Parliament has laid criminal charges against private investigator, Paul O’Sullivan.
This was announced at a housekeeping meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee looking into national security concerns.
The charges flow from a threatening message O’Sullivan allegedly sent to a witness, Chief of Staff in the Ministry of Police Cedrick Nkabinde, while Nkabinde was appearing before the committee in November last year.
Another incident relates to O’Sullivan’s walkout without the express permission of the chairperson, while he appeared before MPs last month.
Parliament’s legal advisor, Andile Tetyana explains the case was opened at the Cape Town police station last Thursday.
He says Parliament has been informed that the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), also known as the Hawks, will investigate the matter.
“Importantly the referral of these cases to the Hawks, makes it clear, the acts by Mr O’Sullivan, in respect of Mr Nkabinde and walkout, has been classified as national priority offences,” explains Tetyana.
