President Museveni Acknowledged for Problem-solving Expertise by VP Alupo
Jessica Alupo the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda has praised President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his adeptness in identifying and addressing the challenges faced by Ugandans.
“In observing the workshops and training areas today and witnessing the outcomes, I affirm that President Museveni excels in diagnosing and promptly resolving the issues that impact our citizens,” she stated.
These remarks were made during her address at the graduation ceremony of the Teso subregion Industrial Zonal Hub in Soroti City.
Alupo also expressed gratitude towards President Museveni for leading the industrial hub initiative, which has facilitated youth empowerment to combat unemployment.
“The government has established 19 presidential industrial hubs nationwide, and I urge everyone to recognize President Museveni’s leadership in spearheading this crucial initiative for the welfare of Ugandans,” she emphasized.
She extended appreciation to the State House Comptroller, Ms. Jane Barekye, for her hands-on approach in ensuring the success of State House projects like the industrial hubs.
Alupo highlighted four key sectors of employment for the youth, including commercial agriculture, industry/manufacturing, services, and ICT, underscoring the importance of vocational training in these areas.
Addressing the graduates, Alupo advised them to prioritize health and discipline in pursuing their aspirations and encouraged them to support government efforts in environmental conservation.
Ms. Barekye elaborated on President Museveni’s vision behind the industrial hubs project, emphasizing its role in job creation, reducing criminality, and improving household incomes.
She also outlined plans for a common user facility to facilitate work for beneficiaries without financial barriers.
Furthermore, Barekye proposed youth inclusion in government development models like Emyooga and Parish Development on a SACCO basis to ensure effective utilization of resources.
She extended gratitude to relevant ministries for their support and collaboration in realizing the project’s objectives.
The ceremony was attended by various officials, including Soroti Resident City Commissioner Mr. Paak Peter Pex, who lauded the skilling program as a solution to youth unemployment.
Maj. Gen. Don Nabasa of the UPDF emphasized the importance of vocational skills in shaping Uganda’s future and urged for the inclusion of motor vehicle mechanics and branding courses in the curriculum.
Dr. Michael Okumu from the Directorate of Industrial Training praised President Museveni’s commitment to the skilling agenda and commended the UPDF for their role in mindset training.
Mr. Joshua Edongu, the Mayor of Soroti City, expressed gratitude to the government for providing youth with opportunities for skill development.
Mr. Bernard Ongura, the Manager of the Hub, provided details on the courses offered and the enrollment statistics, highlighting the impact of the initiative.
Overall, the graduation ceremony showcased the government’s commitment to empowering Ugandan youth through vocational training and skill development initiatives.
