Ramaphosa to honour 63 Khoi and San ancestors at Kinderlê reburial

President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver the keynote address on Monday at the reburial of mortal remains of 63 Khoi and San people – whose remains were unethically removed more than a century ago from Namaqualand in the Northern Cape.
The remains were part of museum exhibitions at Glasgow in Scotland and at the Iziko Museum in Cape Town.
The reburial will take place at Kinderlê near Steinkopf, Northern Cape.
San leader Petrus Vaal says despite the hardships faced during the repatriation process, there is a sense of relief.
“I am very proud. The people have come together, the Khoisans and all the nations, to do the greatest work in the world, taking the first step to make history. I am very, very happy with this movement,” says Vaal.
