After a disappointing quarterfinal exit at the hands of Zimbabwe last Saturday, the Uganda Rugby Cranes bounced back with an impressive performance against Burkina Faso in a ranking match at the 2024 Rugby Africa Cup at Namboole on Wednesday.
Led by France-based Phillip Wokorach’s resolute display, which included a try and two penalties, the Rugby Cranes secured a 3-try victory over a Burkina Faso side.
Shakim Ssembusi also crossed the try line, while a penalty try sealed the win for Uganda.
With this victory, Fred Mudoola’s team advances to the fifth-place final, where they will face Senegal, who defeated Ivory Coast in the other ranking match.
In the semifinals, Zimbabwe pulled off a stunning upset over defending champions Namibia, while Algeria came from behind to beat Kenya.
The finals, including the main final between Algeria and Zimbabwe, will take place on Sunday at Namboole.
