SA Tourism says country’s attractions remain highly ranked globally

SA Tourism says the country’s tourist attractions remain highly ranked internationally. Some emerging tourism operators say the news is a boost for their businesses.
They shared their experiences with their counterparts from New Zealand and Australia during SA Tourism’s flagship Mega Lekker Escape at a resort in Pilanesburg in the North West recently.
The South African emerging tourism operators say their unique experiences are an important selling point.
“We are selling Zulu culture. We are selling the roots, the deep, the authentic Zulu cultural experience at Indlondlo Cultural Village. Every time when everyone is visiting KZN, they know us about culture.”
“Street art has always been known for changing precincts and turning them into positive spaces. So lekker [great], meeting different agents; that puts me on a global map.”
SA Tourism says its priority is to support emerging tourism operators in the country. It also says the country’s tourist attractions remain highly ranked internationally.
Local operators and their New Zealand and Australian counterparts attended the gathering.
SA Tourism’s Thandiwe Mathibela says, “Inclusion is us including those smaller players even in our marketing campaigns, you know, and ensuring that we showcase the length and breadth of what our country has got. And that’s the resilience, and sometimes I think we pitch tourism as like this very scientific thing, but tourism is the interaction of people with other people, showcasing experiences and literally taking joy out of it.”
