School Director, Former MP Aspirant Arrested for Defiling Pupil
The Police in Mbale City are holding a former Member of Parliament Aspirant for Northern Division, Mbale City on charges of defilement.
Police identified the suspect as Jackson Aryampa, who allegedly defiled a 14-year-old pupil at Model Nursery and Primary School where he is a director.
Aryampa has been in custody at Nakaloke Central Police Station since Wednesday when he was arrested. He has since been charged with defilement contrary to Section 129 (1) of the penal code.
Jackson Aryampa, the suspect.
The Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, Rogers Taitika, said Aryampa’s file has been sent to the DPP. However, the teenager’s father accuses the Police of mismanaging the case file noting that Aryampa should have already been produced in court since it is beyond the mandatory 48 hours when a suspect should be held in Police cells.
He claims that the police have been tossing him around from the time the suspect was arrested noting that on Monday morning, he went to Nakaloke CPS to follow up on the file and he was told by a police officer that the file had already been sent to the DPP’s office but it hadn’t reached by the time he went there.
Our reporter couldn’t reach Aryampa to hear his side of the story. According to the Penal Code Act, any person who performs a sexual act with another person who is below the age of eighteen years commits a felony known as defilement and is on conviction liable to life imprisonment.
Where a person is convicted of defilement or aggravated defilement under section 129, the court may, in addition to any sentence imposed on the offender, order that the victim of the offense be paid compensation by the offender for any physical, sexual and psychological harm caused to the victim by the offense.
